Gateway to University Honors
The Gateway to University Honors class met once a week throughout the semester and had the purpose of informing students of the requirements and expectations of the University Honors Program. As first year honors students, we were able to partake in in-class discussions and activities that furthered our understanding of the Honors Program and helped us to develop skills and techniques for meaningful reflection. Through taking and completing this course, I met and interacted with other students in the University Honors Program, and by bringing our different backgrounds and knowledge together in our peer groups, we were able to learn and grow from one another, and by helping each other throughout the course, we developed friendships that made the class more meaningful. I also developed a much better sense of how to meaningfully reflect on both past events and learning experiences. Going forward, I will take the knowledge and insight I gained from the articles we discussed in class and use it to guide my learning and my life’s experiences. Each article had sections that I related directly to my own life and gave me insight to both what I am doing now and what I hope to be doing someday. Also, now that I have a complete understanding of the requirements of the Honors Program, I will use this knowledge throughout my years at UC to complete my learning experiences and gain the most benefit that I can from participating in this program.

personal passion
The assignment for this essay was to explore a personal passion and discuss what the passion is, how it became a passion and why it's important. I chose a passion especially close to my heart which is children and the ways they grow and learn. Through exploring this topic, I was able to deepen my understanding of myself and my passion and how I can invest more in this passion during my years at UC. I was able to practice my reflection and critical thinking skills relating to my own life and interests.
